Dalyan day
we went for a boat trip on the dalyan river. this included a stop at some natural mud baths... a soak in the eggy-smelling pungent murkey depths is supposed to take ten years off your life so we held our noses and waited for the gunge to crust over (a must, we were assured, for it to take full effect).
after a few statuesque poses we ran to the showers!
some ancient tombs carved into the hillside. the treasures were robbed by pirates, Jackson was pleased to be told! we had another cool guide, a local man who spoke very good english (you will note that the level of a guides english is crucial to the outcome of the day) and gave us a lot of information on the history, politics and education systems in turkey. this was the moment we discovered that we were actually on a different continent and no longer in europe! haha.
its a pretty average photo but this is the 'caretta caretta', or turtle beach that we spent the afternoon on. it was beautiful with really warm water. you can't go there after 5pm 'cause the turtles come to lay their eggs in the sand.
