getting a feel for lisbon
my memories of lisbon will always come back to the same thing:
sagres
sardines
sangria (mulled red wine with fruit)
swordfish, and other assorted seafood!
we gave up looking for the tower and decided to chill out with our shopping in the shadow of the padrao dos descobrimentos (the tower we were looking for) in the belem district.

at the top of the tower, enjoying the gentle sea breezes? holding on to my dress for dear life before it parachutes me away
Torre de Belem - another tower. The Portuguese aren't afraid to erect the odd monument or tower here or there or on every street corner/in every square.
continuing our montage from copenhagen.
again, continuing a previous blog entry - 'numerous nicola's'. although this one is a bit of a shameful example of the portugeuse chain.

this one was a lot grander. it provided us with our morning cafine fix and is rated very highly by 'europe-on-a-shoestring-2003'.
pigeons of the Rossio square

ascending the final stage of a tower for a view of the city
they have amazingly paved pathways!

looking across to the Mosteiro dos Jeronimos (castle)
the praca do comercio square
