Beautiful Brugge!
In an attempt to find some novelty in the fact that Europe is cold, wet, dark and wintery (while my mind is dreaming of warm sunny home), Jackson and I caught the train to the little town of Brugge, Belgium for a weekend away.

I got very excited walking around as soon as we arrived on the first night - lots of christmas lights and decorations and little 'canteena's' (little market huts selling local christmas crafts and foods in the streets).

The main tower and main market square.

We discovered a great little stall run by gypsy's with really tasty hearty seafood morsels, which Jackson lapped up enthusiastically.

First day - there were lots of statues and fountains dotted around the city, but this was one of the most amusing!

*cute little streets*
Back to those gypsies again the next day...
A second dose of those lekker* ("tasty" in dutch) little "sprots".

Chilling on a hay bail for a warm wintery wine.

A mini ice-skating rink in one of the many town squares

(i didn't fall over once!!!)

There are loads of quite little corners with cute little views like this.

Our cruise down the canal (we felt very touristy but it was very different from Amsterdam).

J and I became noble life-savers as our reflexes pulled this bloke down who was standing taking a photo just in time for his head to narrowly miss the 'lowest bridge in Brugge'.

Ahh!

Sampling the local brews in a pub that claims to have over 300 beers to choose from.

It was a great place for just wandering around aimlessly and discovering smashing little spots.
And discovering unbelievable record-breaking gems such as this - 'the smallest window in Brugge'.

At the Chocolate museum (the Belgians, quite rightly, are famous for fabulous chocolate). A demonstration of how to make praline.
Yep, this is made from chocolate!

and this

and this

and these

and him!
