phase 3 - monday morning markets
Bright, fresh and bubbly after four hours sleep, we flapped our orange shirts in the breeze to rid them of the smokey night-before smell, squirmed back in to them, grabbed our bags of beers and headed off for the street markets to start the day.
opting this time for the tram: we found smiling a bit too optomistic for this time of the morning, not quite sure how we'd troop through the day.
but after a after cappacino we were ready to face the bargain-hunting crowds of beethovenstraat.
i think this little lad was scared we wanted to buy his toys off him; he was having too much fun in his little cluster of colour.
this little witch was selling cupcakes. there were many enterprising young dutchlings out there, this is their annual opportunity to be creative for cash.
so stoked to find some avaitors to ease the orange on the eyes.
okay this obviously requires some explanation: we set ourselves a challenge to see who could find the funniest/most random/most useless item. this was jackson's find. i didn't know it was actually possible to write over 200 pages on this particular topic.
my purchase was this tigger tail.
and after grooving to michael jackson only that morning, we were so excited to find an actual MJ barbie. they tried to charge us five euros for it, claiming it was a collectors item. we would have been more tempted if it was a pre-surgery model.
