Kermis Flower Festival, Haarlem (or perhaps, random haarlem)

Just in case you were wondering what the dutch actually DO with those fields and fields full of tulips (and stunningly sunny spring sundays) - well, here you go. They make meaningful flower floats that aptly reflect the logic of dutch society (and insane influence of april sunshine)...

And just to fit with the 'theme' of confusion - a tartan dressed jazz band? (i wish you could see properly the trumpet players neatly clipped moustache around the mouthpiece of his instrument)

who what why... by this stage, we decided its best not to ask 'why?' - we figure the dutch just shrug and say 'why not?'. i kind of like this philosophy...

and a member of the "Muggenblazers" band just chilling ("muggenblazers" = "mosquitoes" - i like the dutch word better, its more onomatapoeic). in a traditionally garish costume (how-many-bright-colours-can-you-fit-in-a-pair-of-overalls?)
