WINTER IN AMSTERDAM
PLEASE!!! Do not let summer pass with out appreciating the sunshine, dry weather, clear skies and lack of wind... I have resolved never to experience another winter again. From now on I will let the sun guide my global travels...
The winds got over 100km/hr the other week, NEARLY causing school to shut, but nevertheless causing warnings and nationwide chaos as trains were cancelled, roads were shut and trees fell down everywhere. This is the entrance to school - luckily it fell the direction it did.
...and this week, it snowed. Yesterday it didn't settle, but we were out for a play anyway. ('We' did include the kids, but Jeanette - my Sweedish friend - myself, and the other staff had just as much fun).
Stephanie (the teacher I work with) and Melanie (one of the other Kindergarten teachers) soak up the snow flakes. They were huge!
My class rugged up for the occasion
Today it settled on the ground!
Snowballs allowed below the knees only! (spoilsports).
and we were all sent home at 2pm because of traffic, and warnings that it is going to get to 10cm later tonight... fingers crossed for a 'snow day' tomorrow.
we had to leave the bikes and go for the trams
the canal at my place
pretty trees...
a little lake near my place
the view looking downward from my balcony!
