Scooters!!!

A rather infuriating start to the day as we waited 45 minutes after the said delivery time to the hotel... only to find, several phone calls later, a greasy lanky man had been waiting in reception for us the whole time...

knowing how to unlock the storage compartment, turn on the ignition, locate the fuel guage or reverse the bloody things was beyond his job description, so we spent half an hour teaching ourselves in the car park before heading off into the the distant hills (a very peculiar sight to me after the monotonous flat-ness of holland!)

it didn't take long for me to toughen up into a biker chick and speed along at nearly 50 km/hr

a stop by a random monastry on the side of the road. enough time to wipe the sweat off our blistered hands (from gripping the handlebars to tightly) and decide that we really could hold on til the next stop for a toilet (as opposed to the hole-in-the-ground equivalents offered here)

and at last, after a 40km ride, the beach of Arkos Nikolaos town

beautiful little streets

a lovely lake

another cathedral

and a trek to the peak of the town was worth it for the views
