James Blunt live in Westerpark

Okay so perhaps some of you may smirk... but there's a lot of history behind my decision to attend this concert... starting with a summer of good ol' Tassie Sea FM playing the heart-breaking 'Goodbye my Lover' every day as we slaved over the stoves of Lazenbys, and ending about a week ago, when Alicia and i decided that 'if James Blunt ever comes to Amsterdam we just simply cannot miss it live'. Low and behold i get back from Greece, and 30 euros and four days later, here we are!



and, like all good things in europe, we wait. at first patiently to the support act - some latino guy called gabriel rios, who then turned from being cute and funky to totally corny and infuriating.



a good hour and a half later, here he is!!! not a total looker, but his voice and the guitarist behind him made up for it.



Tash and Ben, this one's dedicated to you, and many-an-emotional shift (always rectified, of course, with a little knock of drink or few).



the crowds



this song blew me away - 'no bravery', which he wrote in kosovo about the after-effects of the war. he showed all this really moving footage on the screen and i think by the end he was crying... bless his cotton socks



beautifully set in Westerpark, one of several huge parks in the centre of Amsterdam, it was fantastic atmosphere with the sun setting in the background.
